Wooster's motto is realized in its revitalized downtown. Having undergone a successful streetscape project to "modernize" the downtown area, one can still find good old-fashioned personal assistance and small-town friendliness. Wooster (pop. 22,191) is the county seat of Wayne County, a rich agricultural area on the edge of Amish country. It also has a solid manufacturing base including rubber products, automotive products, brushes, fire extinguishers, and food products. Wooster is also known as the home of F.J. Designs, makers of the Cat's Meow wooden buildings. |
As the home of the College of Wooster, the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, and the Agricultural Technical Institute (both branches of Ohio State University), Wooster is also an educational center.
Not to be forgotten, Wooster also provides cultural and recreational activities ranging from the Wayne Center for the Arts, the Ohio Light Opera Company, and a newly constructed community fitness center.
Wooster is located easy driving distance from Cleveland (60 miles), Akron (36 miles), and Canton (32 miles).
